PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear SYSA Players, Parents, Coaches and all Volunteers:

The Swampscott Youth Soccer Association (SYSA) provides an opportunity for all Swampscott youths to learn and play outdoor soccer. In doing so, we promote the growth of soccer as a sport, provide a safe and controlled environment for kids to play, provide the highest quality coaches and assistants, and offer a high level of achievement, sportsmanship, and character development for all players, regardless of skill.

SYSA sponsors intramural and travel programs in the fall and spring.  The intramural program is the foundation upon which the SYSA rests.  Intramural teams play other intramural teams from Swampscott and Nahant.

The intramural program is for players between age 5 and 10.  Players between age 5-8 will have one-hour clinics on Saturday mornings, which include both skill development drills and mini-games. Players age 9 - 10 will have games on Saturdays and a Friday night Clinic for skill development.

The travel program is separate from the intramural program. Travel teams compete against other travel teams in a league sponsored by the Essex County Youth Soccer Association. The ECYSA has very stringent rules regarding the make up of eligible travel teams. These rules form the basis of the deadlines and fees in the registration instructions. Travel team players are selected based upon try-outs, coach's evaluations and player history. Final team selections involve the coaches and the Soccer Skills Committee.

Fulfillment of our mission and vision demands that certain core values are accepted and practiced throughout the entire association. These values, when practiced consistently, result in a strong sense of pride for our players, and a positive commitment from their parents.
